Nigerian International, Joe Aribo missed the pulsating 2-2 draw played by Rangers against Benfica in the Europa Cup on Thursday due to illness, www.sportspedal.com reports.

The Super Eagles midfielder sat out the match due to stomach complaints, Rangers coach, Steven Gerrard confirmed.

Gerrard said: “He was unwell. He had a stomach complaint [on Wednesday] night. Hopefully, he will be available for the weekend.

The coach, however, clears the air that the illness players is not COVID-19 related.

“It’s important to say it is not Covid-related. He was negative on his test before people start putting two and two together.” The coach said.
