Kubrat Pulev has declared himself the incoming champion as he challenges Anthony Joshua for the IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO titles come Saturday 12th of December, 2020 at the O2 Arena in London.
The Bulgarian draws inspiration from unexpected feat achieved by Andy Ruiz Jr one and a half year ago in the United States when Andy Ruiz knocked down the Briton four times from Round 3 before finishing the job in the seventh round.
The former World Title challenger (28-1, 14 KOs) arrived in London over the weekend ahead of the fight said: “We see a lot of mistakes from Anthony,” said Pulev. “A lot of bad sides to him. I think these mistakes, and the bad sides, stay. When I am good, I beat him well. Right now I feel very good, strong and powerful. I am very strong heading into this fight”.
The fighter who lost to Wladimir Klitschko, five years ago in his first attempt at becoming a world champion but he knockout by the former Champion in his first and only loss so far since he turned a professional boxer in 2009.
The Bulgarian is banking on that bitter experience against Klitschko to defeat Anthony Joshua, ” I will perform very differently because I have a lot of experience from the Klitschko fight. I will be a new Kubrat Pulev”.
The six feet plus Boxer is aiming to become the first Bulgarian to win Heavyweight Champion of the World as he wants to fulfil his father’s dream.
“This was my late father’s dream. That is why I and my brother are here. His project was to have sons, and for them to become boxing champions. He wants to win on Saturday night with me so this fight is not only for me. This fight isn’t just for boxing. It is for all of Bulgaria. Nobody from my country has ever been Heavyweight Champion of the World. That’s why it will be so good for my country and my people. Bulgarian fans will be really happy”.
The 39-year-old boxer born in Sofia is already looking beyond the fight on Saturday and declare Tyson Fury as his next opponent after Saturday when he might have defeated the British Nigerian.
“I think after this fight I’m going to fight with Tyson Fury. It will be good. I don’t believe that the Joshua vs. Fury fight is going to happen because I will win on Saturday night. I think the world needs a new World Champion like me. I am the new World Champion. I am coming.” He concludes.
